Our Schedule
Welcome to the Seattle Laser Fleet! Even though the name says Laser, we are all about promoting singlehanded dinghy racing in the Northwest, and the Laser and RS Aero sailors are working together to enhance both fleets.
Every year the Seattle Sailing Fleet (the Seattle Laser Fleet and the Seattle RS Aero fleet) runs our signature Frostbite Series of races. All Laser and RS Aero sailors are welcome to participate; young and old, big and small, novice to expert, member of any club or no club at all. Frostbite style means a bunch of informal quick start short races. It’s all about having fun with your friends, sharpening skills, sharing and learning techniques and staying tuned thru the winter. The races are held at Shilshole and sailors launch from the docks adjacent to CYC Seattle clubhouse. The post race gathering and Food & Beverage which had been a tradition prior to Covid has not yet resumed but will be announced in advance if added on an ad-hoc basis.
It is important that every sailor knows their skill level and makes good personal judgement as to whether they are prepared and capable to sail in the conditions presented. If it is too windy or cold for you on any given day, please don’t hesitate to stay on shore or get off the water early.
It is important to note that when you race in the frostbite series, you are responsible for your safety. We all strive to keep each other safe out there, but don’t count on a RIB coming alongside to get you out of trouble. The Puget Sound temperature drops to under fifty degrees. Winds can be strong and the sea state can get very challenging. Sailors need to use good judgement on whether they are up to the challenge of sailing on a given day. Wearing a suitable PFD along with gear that will keep you warm and safe when capsized or in the water for a period of time is must.
First race starts at about 12:30 so be rigged and ready to leave the dock by about 12:15. We’ll run races until about 3, or when too tired, too cold, too hungry or it’s just too dark. THIS IS SAILING AT ITS BEST! So join in the fun.
It would be difficult to find a more capable group of sailors racing on a given Sunday in the country.

* Note that our signature Frigid Digit Regatta is NOT included in the Frostbite race fees. That event, like PSSC Small Boat & Turkey Bowl, is a Corinthian Yacht Club event and is not included in the Frostbite fees. Register with CYC separately.
Fee Structure
$60 Adult 7 Race Series
$15 College/youth 7 Race Series
$20 Adult individual race
$5 College/Youth individual race
The race fees go to covering the cost of the insurance for running races , maintenance for the loaner Lasers and Aero, and gas for the Race Committee boats. The Series racing fee covers all 7 days of frostbite racing. As an option you can pay on a Per Race day basis.
